TAP Series holds state approval to fulfill the 8-hour training requirement in Illinois, and it is updated to reflect the 2022 FDA Food Code changes. TAP Series is priced at $103, covering the course and exam with two attempts if needed and an additional course retake under specific conditions. The refund policy extends 30 days from purchase, and licenses do not expire.
In contrast, ServSafe is priced at $152.95 for the course and one exam attempt, with final purchases and a 90-day completion window.
Language availability: TAP is offered in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Arabic, while ServSafe is available in English and Spanish.

ServSafe, along with other test providers such as Always Food Safe, State Food Safety, and National Registry, is ANAB-accredited. Without ANAB accreditation, ServSafe would not be able to offer the Food Safety Manager Exam. ServSafe is the only non-profit organization that contributes to lobbying efforts among these providers.
